Lisa Korsgren is a textile engineer with high flying hobbies and a passion for research and development. When she’s not busy developing new high-tech textiles at Job Group, she sails up to the sky on thermal currents in a glider, or spends time in the outdoors where she thrives regardless of the season.
“I love textiles, especially technical, strong and chemically resistant textiles. A fabric should not only be beautiful. I see the beauty of combining function with an attractive product. Therefore, it is fantastic to work with filters, when we insert filter media into a product, it must withstand all the loads and the requirements are then so much more advanced than in the fashion industry, ”says Lisa, who admits that she is definitely a technology nerd.
The Department of Research & Development plays a central role in Job Group’s corporate idea. Each customer has their own needs and demands, and therefore development and technology work in close contact with the sales and production departments. With a complete lab at her disposition and large parts of the production inhouse on the premises in Kinna, Lisa and her team have every opportunity to develop new products and not just follow the developments in the industry but be one of the leading players.
– Filter media has been around for a long time, but it is an industry that does not stand still. We have many challenges ahead of us, especially when it comes to the development of polymers that are better for the environment, as well as recycling and re-use of fibers. Among other things, we look at the possibilities of using biopolymers that are degradable and compostable. Finding solutions that are more efficient and offer higher quality is also part of our work that benefits both the customer and the industry, says Lisa.
R&D works on several levels. Partly with their own projects to develop new materials and production methods. Partly by following up projects initiated by the customer where the department develops new customer-specific products and solutions. In addition, the department works with testing of products and setting up experiments in the lab where they simulate what is happening at the customer´s place.
“We cooperate with our partner companies within the Job Alliance internationally and therefore have access to very good opportunities for research and data collection. We also collaborate with independent test institutes such as RISE and with technical universities and schools to keep us in the loop regarding future technologies,” says Lisa.
